Introduction
Yoomy is a freemium nutrition and meal-tracking app operated by Andrei Shuvatov. Your meal diary, profile, and journey progress are stored on your device and backed up to the cloud so your data is preserved if you reinstall the app or switch devices. A photo is sent for AI analysis only after you allow AI photo analysis and explicitly start a food scan (the result is added to your diary, and you can edit or delete it). Some data is processed online so subscriptions, usage limits, cloud backup, and analytics work fairly and securely.
Summary
- Sign in with Apple is required to use Yoomy. We receive only the information Apple shares (such as an email relay address); we never see your Apple ID password.
- Your data (profile, meals, photos, journey progress, and weight history) is stored on your device and backed up to our cloud services (Google Firestore and Firebase Storage) so it can be restored after reinstallation or on a new device.
- Meal photos are uploaded to Firebase Storage, and meal metadata (calories, macros, timestamps) is stored in Firestore — all tied to your Firebase user ID and accessible only to you.
- Only after you allow AI photo analysis and explicitly start a food scan (free accounts get a limited number of scans; Pro has a daily limit), your photo is sent to our backend (Google Firebase Cloud Functions) and to Google's Gemini API solely to analyze food and estimate nutrition for that request.
- Subscriptions are billed through Apple; RevenueCat helps verify Pro access. We receive subscription status and product identifiers, not your payment card details.
- We use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, and PostHog to improve the app. We do not sell your data or use Yoomy for cross-app advertising.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. All cloud data is permanently purged within 30 days of deletion.
- Yoomy is not medical advice. AI nutrition estimates are approximate.
What Data Is Stored and Where
On your device:
- Profile: age or birth date, gender, height, weight, target weight, goal, weekly pace, activity level, units, your answers to onboarding questions, and calculated calorie and macro targets.
- Meals you log, including nutrition values and compressed photo data attached to your meals.
- Journey progress, weight check-in history, and achievement status.
- App preferences and onboarding-related state stored in app storage.
In the cloud (Firestore and Firebase Storage), tied to your Firebase user ID:
- Profile data (the same fields listed above, synced for backup).
